Handweavers Guild of Boulder

The Handweavers Guild of Boulder was founded in 1964 by a small group of Boulder women dedicated to the art of hand weaving. Three years later, in 1967, the official name of Handweavers Guild of Boulder was adopted together with a set of bylaws still in use today.

For nearly sixty years, the Guild has prospered while carrying out its mission of exploring and encouraging handweaving and related fiber arts in the greater Boulder community.

The first HGB Sale premiered in 1971 and has continued as a vibrant contributor to the Boulder art and maker community. Today Guild members seek to continue this mission by fostering awareness of the importance of the fiber arts, especially those made by hand, and by encouraging participation in all forms of fiber art.

Membership is open to persons interested in the art of handweaving and related fiber arts.

The Handweavers Guild of Boulder has been part of the fabric of the Boulder community through its outreach programs with local schools, the Boulder County Fair, and the Boulder County jail. In return, the community has generously supported the HGB Fiber Art Show & Sale of handwoven and handmade textiles.

In November 2016, the Guild was granted 501(c)(3) status and is now an IRS tax-exempt charitable educational organization. In September 2019, HGB was accepted into ColoradoGives.org, a statewide charitable giving website for non-profits, which provides a safe and easy vehicle for donations to the Guild.
